Mt. Elbrus - Europe's highest peak

The Caucasus mountains connect the black sea to the Caspian and Mt Elbrus (5642 m.) is the highest peak in these mountains, situated in southern Russia just north of the Georgian border. A dream summit for every trekker!!

Elbrus is also an ancient volcano which has not erupted for the last 2000 yrs. It forms the two volcanic peaks (East and West).Elbrus is located west of the recent glacier slide on Mt. Kazbek.
Weather is generally stable during June to August, but cold and strong winds are considered normal here.

Several ethnic groups, including the Balkars, Karachays, and Circassians dwelve around the mountain,and have their own distinct traditions and way of life. So one can climb the peak as well as enjoy their culture and hospitality.
