Bhamer Fort

The most beautiful of all the forts in Dhule district is Bhamgiri or Bhamer. Once the capital of the Ahir kings, this fort is spread around the village of Bhamer in the shape of a horse shoe. the geographical location of the place is such that the fort encircles the village from 3 sides and offers natural protection thereto. The then rulers ensured complete protection of the complete village by building ramparts and entrance on the fourth side. There is a ‘Jatra’ at the fort on the day following ’Bail Pola’ (a day when farmers worship the bulls for being their biggest help)

At a distance of 32 km from Malegaon in Nashik district, there is a fort at Galna. The fort is adorned with 8 gates, several bastions, ramparts, water tank and many other structures. As the Archaeological Department repaired this fort in 2017-18, The fort is back to its original glory.
